Phil has had a day of running around. He met with friends from church for breakfast. He moved the cows. Then he began his truck errands (the slow ones). He returned a trailer attached to the truck that we had used for fetching hay some months ago: what a great joy to have it no longer on our driveway, and how nice that he could return it right before he actually needed the truck.
At almost the last possible moment, after checking the weather report for some days to come, we decided that this is the last 24 hours before another large rain comes. Rather than push off finishing the concrete ANOTHER week, he headed up to rent the concrete mixer, then drove as fast as he could through stop and go traffic to pick up a few bags of concrete (arriving about five minutes before they closed, but he made it).
Now, taking advantage of the cooler weather and the longer daylight, he is finishing the last two blocks, and hopes to get some grout done yet tonight. Otherwise, early start to the day tomorrow, and what we hope will be the last of the concrete work.
Prayers appreciated for this last push.
I must be nesting, as, after reveling in the smell of clean sheets, and the sight of a clean(er) door, I long for my whole trailer to be cleaned up. I know I will have to move all the several thousand books piled everywhere at some point, so I found a few boxes of keepers, but not immediate reads, and Phil moved those to storage. A few more cubic feet of space is welcome. I rearranged my school shelf, too.
We have a little catch-all closet, about 4'x4', and over the last several months, the pile of random bits has grown until it reaches floor to ceiling. No longer. The things that need to go to Goodwill are bagged and ready. The books for the library are boxed and out the door. The blankets are stored until winter; the Viking dress up hat is in use.
The rest of the closet contents have disgorged into the living space, which feels a bit daunting. Or maybe just feels the way the living space has felt for months now, with only an occasional reprieve.
